Handbags and Purses – The perfect accessories

When you are looking for the perfect accessory to compliment any outfit, a purse can help you pull it off. You can look playful, glitzy, businesslike, and even glamorous. Most women have several different purses and some can cost thousands of dollars. To make handbag or purses out of almost anything can add a unique twist to all of your outfits.

 

Making bags can be as simple as pulling out the metal container in your closet that you used as a lunchbox when you were a kid or maybe your kids carried their lunches in colorful metal boxes. These “purses” are durable and bring a smile to everyone’s face whenever they see the characters on the side.

For more of an everyday purse, you can consider the wide variety of fabrics that you can use to make handbag or making bags. You can use folded or tied up bandanas, glittery sequined fabrics, paper, and just about anything can be made into a container with the right attitudes. You should be adventurous whenever making bags and always remember that wearing a wild fabric as a purse is much easier than getting away with wearing a loud wild shirt, and much easier on the eyes. Whenever you are in a fabric store and find yourself drawn to what would be considered a loud gaudy print that you love but could never get away with wearing, then turn it into a purse.

When it comes to making bags, you have to have a handle. Purse handles are found in a wide variety of materials like metal, bamboo, wood, and plastic. These can be found anywhere online. You can find square handles, horseshoes, ovals, and round handles. Look for pieces of fabric that compliment the handle that you want to use to make handbag and buy enough to make your purse the size that will make sense with the handle that you have.

Making bags look really good by hand, you’ll need to have a small amount of sewing skills. Sewing machines make things fairly simple, but you can always just stitch your purse together by hand. To make handbag out of finished pieces of fabric, you can just wrap it around the handle and then tie the corners into knots. That will keep the fabric from falling off of the handles.

 

You can line the bag with a complimentary fabric when it comes to making bags. You should leave the inner layer inside out (since the outside will technically be the inside of the purse) and tack the lining into the seams of the purse. This type of sewing is done best by hand so you don’t catch the threads within the seam allowance.

 

When making bags you should attach the bag to the handle with small pieces of fabric that can easily be looped around the handle and sew it to the bag. You could use a pretty ribbon or even leather strips of another piece of fabric. You can sew this to the bag but tie it around the handle. When you choose this option you’re able to have many more bags than you have handles since they’re going to be interchangeable.
